Blanchard, Oklahoma- Week 30

Hey,
This week was a great week in Blanchard, we were walking around and I notice that at the Elams house, the camper is back! They got back from AZ a month early so we are so excited to start teaching them. They met with the missionaries 6 years ago in Arizona, then moved to Oklahoma before they were baptized, so that is so cool that we even found them. We also got to talk with some of our other investigators for about a hour and a half, and that was really good, getting to know them a lot better. After that, we start heading back to our place for dinner- we are at the far south end of town, and our place is all the way north- and Elder Multalos bike somehow got two flat tires.......... so........ 45 min. later, we finish walking back to our place. We did service at the library again, this time we peeled off stickers from books that they were selling, took a while, but it was different then what we have been doing so yeah. Ok, so Thursday night, was the best night ever! Newcastle Elders were going to spend the night with us, then we can all go to district meeting together and after that have exchanges, so we get back to our place before they get there, and I don't know if I told you that we found a lamp cover on the street, so we took it back to our place and it's our "crystal ball"... so ok back to the story, Elder Mulitalo and I dressed up- he is in this pale yellow suit that we got from a thrift shop, and wearing a Chinese medallion and a nerf gun tucked into his belt, and he is standing outside the door, and I wrapped my head up in a scarf and wearing a rainbow poncho also wearing my Chinese Medallion, and I'm in the back room, looking at the crystal ball and I have lights under it so its flashing lots of colors and we turned off all the lights in our place. So Newcastle pulls up and Elder Mulitalo leads them inside and to where I am, the whole time they were very confused, then when they saw me everyone started laughing! So on Friday me and Elder Lloyd went on exchanges it was fun, taught a few people. Then on Saturday we all went to Norman to go to some baptisms other missionaries where having, it was sooo cool to see. Also I'm moving to Wichita Falls, TX on Wednesday!

Moving!

I left a surprise for Elder Mulitalo's new companion

Blanchard, Oklahoma- Week 29

Hey!
Sorry the emails have been a little shorter, I am going to try to make them longer. Going to the temple was awesome, it was really cool, I think I talked about it in my last email, but it was a smaller temple, but still cool. Blanchard is about 30min  away from it I think, so its not that bad. My last area, Clinton, was about 2 hours away. We were not able to meet with the dust bowl lady last week, we plan on doing that this week hopefully. Our progress with the treasure hunter is actually getting better! We watched The Testaments with him, I we think he felt the spirit, so that's great :) Exchanges are usually once a transfer so they don't happen too often, unless the zone leaders are also doing exchanges. To answer a questions about that picture of us locked out of the New Castles place, I live in Blanchard, but on Mondays and Fridays, we get a ride up there in the morning so then we go with them to p-day or district meeting. When we got there, they were not back yet, so that's why we were locked out. I don't know when tornado season is, but it's not for a while so I still have time to prepare to be a storm chaser! Ok, so we had a really fun P-day!!!!!!! we went to the Museum of Natural History!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was awesome! Dinosaurs, space, science, everything! Knowledge! And I took lots of pictures for you! Don't worry I'm in them too. One of the workers there was talking with us for a while, she was 80, but she didn't look like it,  and was walking around all over the place, and she was really funny. She was trying to convince Elder Mulitalo to crawl through a small tunnel that was there into this cave, and then told us all about the dinosaurs and where they came from, it was really cool! We got to have another lesson with a less active and his daughters, his daughters like us coming over now and are sharing spiritual thoughts, so that is a lot of progress, and there dad enjoys us coming over too, so we are really excited about that. We did service at the library again, there wasn't that much to do, so they told us go to our favorite section and check out some of the books there :) that was fun. On Saturday, we had the funniest service project ever! We cleared brush and trees all day with machetes!!!! How fun is that!?! Now all I want is a machete! I didn't get any pictures of that, I wish I did, but we got a lot done, and the place looks so much better. So today we are all playing baseball so that should be really fun. Elder Mulitalo and I have been quoting the sandlot all morning, and I am bringing the baseball which was "signed by Babe Ruth" hahaha, so its going to be a fun day. Have a great week!
I have decided, in my house, I'm going to have a room full of stuff like this:)

That is a wierd looking squid bug thing...

That's just scary

This would be a good jump scare hahaha

I feel so small!

Fish are friends not food.... maybe except this one.

Kevin!

Into the belly of the beast......

Sunday morning was wierd, lots of fog, and the sun did not help, it was blinding.

Blanchard, Oklahoma- Week 28

Hey!!
This was a good week, we didn't have enough miles to go to Norman last week so we spent our p-day in Blanchard and played basketball at the church, since this is a new month, we have enough miles for today so that's good. We almost had a lesson with this lady that was born in the dust bowl, but she wasn't feeling well that day so we said we would stop by next week, she seemed interested so we are excited about that. We had dinner with the Tanners, so that is always really good food. We are still meeting with the treasure hunter, and he is finally progressing, very slowly but progressing. We talked to him about the history of the Book of Mormon, and are going to watch the Testaments with him, we think he will like that. Every Wednesday we go to the library to do service, so that day we took apart a lot of Legos, if only they had us build with Legos, that would be so much fun! On Thursday we got to go to the temple!! I have never seen the Oklahoma City temple before so that was really cool. It is a smaller temple, but it was cool because since it wasn't very tall you can see the Angel Moroni better on the top. Then we had a lesson after with Bryce and all his friends, it was a really good lesson, we took a less active with us because he was younger and thought he could connect with them really well, it went great! Our member dropped us off at our place after the lesson, then went back to hang out with them some more! On Saturday, we went on a church exchange with one of our investigators, so we went to Life Church, it was different, more like a rock concert. They started out with Michael Jackson and confetti everywhere, it was fun. But he finally came with us on Sunday! and brought his nephew, and it turned out the nephew really liked going to our church! Have a great week!

Blanchard, Oklahoma- Week 27

Hey!
So on Thursday we did get a lot of snow but it was only in the morning, and melted by the afternoon:(that's Oklahoma weather for you). The work here is going great! On Monday we got to finally have a lesson with one of our investigators, she has been going to church for a while but we had a lesson on Monday and it went great! We have been finding some more people this week and have some lessons set up for next week, it is going great our here! That's crazy, I didn't even realize I have been out for 6 months, the time sure fly's by. This week the weather has been pretty nice, about 60's. It was pretty funny yesterday, we call a number called "Tell Me" on our phones for the weather, and I love when it talks about the wind- so yesterday we had "moderate gale force winds"... what does that even mean?! I guess that's better then "severe gale force winds"? hahahaha. After exchanges I had with Elder Lloyd we decided to go see one of their new investigators, he spoke Spanish but knew English too. So we went over there and we spoke Spanish to him, it was really funny, he thought that Elder Mulitalo was Latino, so when Mulitalo told him that he was from Samoa, he was very confused, "Where did you learn to speak Spanish?" "Mexico." "ok......." it was pretty great. Hope everyone is having a great week!

Science! I've still got it!

Locked out of Newcastle's apartment, waiting for them to get back

When I took this picture I can't help but  think of the song "I see Fire"

Blanchard, Oklahoma- Week 26

 Hey!
This was a awesome week, lots of blessings. Last p-day, we played basketball and flicker ball again, is really fun! I like it when we play them. We had dinner with one of our investigators, they are showing a lot more interest again, so we are all really excited about that. I also made a new planner, I covered the outside of it with tin foil, so it looks pretty cool. On Tuesday, we had interviews with president, I talked to him about trying to get Blanchard a car, but that is probably not going to happen, the mission I guess is getting rid of some of their cars. Got to go on exchanges with the Zone Leaders, it was fun. Elder Ott came to Blanchard and I went with Elder Corbin. Elder Ott has a lot of nerf guns, so when we came back for the night, that's what I did for the rest of the night, we played with his nerf guns, it was really fun. :) We got to have another lesson with Bryce, him and everyone else is awesome! We go over there, and another friend of theirs came over to hear our message, and at the end of the lesson! She said, "I really wished now that I was here for the first lesson" it was cool :) and one of the people that was going to be there was sick and couldn't make it, so they were all telling us how he was really mad that he was missing out coming over. So they are one of my favorite people that we teach now. We have been still staying inside a lot more than usual because of Elder Mulitalo, but it's funny, even though we are not out as much, when we are, we have been teaching like crazy. And this should be another great week as well, lots of lessons already set up. On Sunday Elder Mulitalo sang in church for ward conference, it was so good! So we went to the church a few times that week so he could practice for it. While he was warming up, he sang some One Republic songs! :) so i liked that. Everyone loved it and was talking to him after church. I have gotten better at the guitar, I can play Pirates of the Caribbean now and a few other songs. The picture you got was our district, that was after a baptism that happen in Norman, we went to it and one lady said that she would take our picture and send it to our families, so I'm glad you got it. Hope everyone is having a great week. And I know Mom would like this- so yesterday night, I remembered that the libraries are going to be closed today, so I call Newcastle telling them we have to go to Norman so we can use the collage computers since they will be open. They text back and say "Don't have the miles to do it, we are going to do the emails on Tuesday" So then I thought "No! Everyone is going to be off of school tomorrow so I have to email them then" So I call the Zone Leaders and ask them for some miles to drive to Norman, they said they could give us some, so I call back Newcastle and said  "Ok, if we had 20 miles approved can we go to Norman?" and they said "Ya I guess." and I'm like "Great! We are going to Norman guys! The miles are already approved." Then called members to get a ride to Newcastle, so it was quite the adventure last night getting to here, but everything worked out and now I'm here! As Elder Mulitalo and I put it "we moved space and time itself to be here today" hahahaha Love you! Have a great week!

Blanchard, Oklahoma- Week 25

Hey!
This week was awesome!! Ok, so for p-day last Monday, we played flicker-ball, it was so much fun, and our whole zone played, so there was a lot of people, definitely one of the funniest p-days. Then we had a meeting where the zone leaders and the AP`s taught, we talked about key indicators and how we can use them better. Elder Lloyd, Elder Richardson, and I had to leave a little early to go teach a lesson, it was a really good lesson. :) On Tuesday, we had a lesson with a lady that sometimes bashes with us, she has gotten better about it, but just has a lot of questions. Well, we brought a member with us, wasn't really sure what was going to go down, because last time he came, it didn't go so well, but that's what Newcastle wanted to do. Both the member and the investigator are very passionate about their beliefs. We told him to behave, it started out ok, but toward the end, they started bashing, so our member gets up and puts his hand on the investigators shoulder, and said, "This is the true church, and these are the 17 points of the true church, study it." Well that was really the end of that lesson. It was funny. Finally got time to clean the apartment before transfers, so it looked a lot better. Transfers were huge! There was so many people in our zone, in most of the companionships, one person was changed. It's pretty crazy, but I think it will be good. Elder Mulitalo is my new companion. :) He is really cool, and he brought some guitars with him, so he taught me how to play a little, its fun. We had a good day, taught a lot. Thursday was awesome, we had a lesson set up for that night, so we go over and his wife has there too, also one of his friends and his wife, so we got to teach 4 people at once, and they all are interested :) miracle night! Friday was a long day, had our district meeting at 10:00, but had another meeting that doesn't usually happen at 9:00, so we were in Norman early. Then after the district meeting which ends at 12:00, had lunch, then Elder Llyod had some district leader meetings to go to, so since he is our ride, we were stuck at church. We got home at 5:30. So we thought, well we will go to see Jim the treasure hunter, but he wasn't home, so we were wondering if we should just go back to the apartment, but I felt that we needed to do something else here. So we walked around in that neighbourhood. Then we see that one of our potentials has his TV on, so we knock on his door, and he answered, so we got to talk to him for a while- miracle because usually we can never talk to him. We finally got to have a lesson with a guy named Calvin, we first knocked on his door, and no one answered, so we were standing on the sidewalk in front of his house thinking about what to do next, when he opens the door and lets us in! He told us that he didn't want to open the door and was talking to his wife about us, she told him, "Well didn't you tell them that you wanted to hear them?" So he thought about it, and told us that the spirit told him to open the door and let us in, soo cool! It was a great lesson, and we got another few appointments set up for him this week and next week. Elder Mulitalo hasn't been feeling the best, his allergies are messing with him, so he called the mission nurse, and she told us to try not to go outside to much, and limit how far we ride our bikes, so the work has gone down a little, but still doing all we can. I have been making a lot of phone calls to people. Almost 6 months, time sure goes by fast! Something I found cool, is to take a paperback Book of Mormon, and start at the beginning, as you go through it, have something you want to know or do, then mark where ever you find it in the book, its really cool, I have started that, got a lot out of it. Love you guys!

Newcastle,Oklahoma- Week 24

Happy New Year! That is pretty crazy, its 2015! hahaha, I'm coming home next year. Well, if this year goes by as fast as the last one did, I'm going to be home pretty quick. I love the New Years stuff! thank you! This week has actually a pretty good week. Last Monday we had a member take us to some people to visit, so that was always nice to travel in a car and not bike or walk to a place. This week has been pretty cold. For New Years Eve, President said we could stay out till 10:30!!!!! so we went to a members house and played games till we had to go, it was really fun, 2015!!!!!! We went to go see some older members and they really liked that we came over to share a little message and to see how they were doing. Later that night we went to Lindsay, which is in the Blanchard mission area, but you can only get their by car, so that was the first time I went their. Had some really good lessons with some less active members there, we showed them a few Mormon Messages, and they loved them. On Friday and Saturday, Elder Richardson and I went to Purcell for exchanges with Elder Taggert. It was really good. The coolest lesson we had their was with Brother Hoffman, he is a recent convert and waiting to get the priesthood so he can baptize his family, so that's what the rest of the family is waiting for, it is so cool! They are all so ready. Michael, one of the boys and I think he is around 20, had a friend over so we got to teach him too. We gave him a Book of Mormon, and Michael said to us that he would call him later and find out if he read it and would pick him up to go to church, that was really cool to see! On Sunday we had some great miracles happen, this is about 7 at night, we go over to Earnest's house, he and his family are investigators, we knocked on the door, but he said that he wasn't really interested anymore, so that was a little sad, but here comes the good part :) we are walking around the area, when we see a woman near her car and we introduce ourselves to her, she said she was just about to leave, but that her husband was home and that we could talk to him. So we knock on the door and tell him that his wife said we could talk to him. He looked at the TV and said, well the game doesn't start for a while so sure. At first I don't know if he was interested, but as we talked more and more and taught him the restoration, he became interested. We gave him a Book of Mormon and he said he would read and pray about it. He really liked us coming over and told us, that he is not normally home at night, he is at work, but this happened to be a very rare night that he was actually home- huge miracle! The second thing happened in our apartment complex we were walking back and saw these two younger guys hanging out. We talked to them, they have seen us before, and they were asking about what we do, one guy was telling us about himself too- he recently got married and had a baby, he was originally in Texas for work and his wife lived in Oklahoma. But he said that one day, God told him to move to Oklahoma, so not really knowing why, he did. When he moved, he knew he made the right choice and that he should not go back to Texas. He was really interested in our message, because we talk about families and he loves his family. It is amazing how The Lord prepares people. It has been cold here like I said, woke up this morning and it was 16 degrees. Started to use the electric blanket, it is nice :) I'm doing good and loving the mission! I love you guys and miss you. see you next week and I will tell you how my new companion is! bye!!!!

Happy New Years!
